Brenna Jael: Recycled Book Journal-Coptic Stitch



Work with bookmaker Brenna Jael during a 4-hour class to design and hand-bind a book, using discarded hardcover books and the ancient Coptic stitch. All materials and tools are provided, but you are encouraged to bring a damaged or discarded book, recycled or blank papers, maps, buttons, and any images or other special materials, to use or share.for making a coptic-stitched journal with recycled book cover.  A 75-year-old classic returns to the Whittier stage for the first time in 25 years.  And it will have us all humming favorites like Over the Rainbow, Ding Dong! The Witch is Dead and If I Only had a Brain/Heart/Nerve. Jenni Merritt, Drama Director for both Friday Harbor Middle School and Friday Harbor High School, chose The Wizard of Oz because she “wanted to do a musical that both kids and their parents would know, pulling everyone in.”

Norm Stamper: To Protect and Serve

The last few years have seen numerous high-profile incidents of alleged police misconduct, including controversial shootings and in-custody deaths, mass protests, and ambush assassinations of police officers. In a book launch co-sponsored by Griffin Bay Bookstore, Former Seattle Police Chief Norm Stamper will read from his latest new book, To Protect and Serve: How to Fix America’s Police, which sheds light on the systemic conditions that give rise to these incidents and offers an action plan for reducing citizen-police tensions and improving community-police relations. Auditions! CHICAGO

Adults and teens 15 years and older are invited to audition for SJCT’s spring musical.  
CHICAGO will be presented in the Whittier Theatre May 5-May 20th.  Perusal scripts and more audition information are available at the SJCT box office with a $10 deposit.  The box office is open Tuesdays through Fridays from 11 am to 4 pm and Saturdays from 11 am to 2 pm.
Audition Times: 1:30 pm on January 29 and 6:30 pm on January 30
